Dear EmailNation Subscriber,
A vote on the President's request to use military force against Syria could come as early as this coming week. While the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a resolution authorizing military intervention, it is still unclear whether the House of Representatives will agree to support such an attack. As The Nation's editors write, war can now only be averted "if members of Congress who care about supporting human rights through nonmilitary means and international law rise to the moral and political challenge of this moment."
According to polls, a plurality of Americans oppose striking Syria even if there is definitive evidence that the regime of President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against his own people. Now it is time for democracy to work. Contact your senators and representatives and demand they vote no on military intervention in Syria.
All best,
Sarah Arnold, The Nation
